Middleware Analyst

Position Title – Middleware Analyst
Location - Houston
Position Purpose - The Middleware Analyst is responsible for the delivery of middleware project and support services for both BSM and BAM organizations.
Principle Accountabilities
• Provide primary support activities for all middleware systems, including the provision of 24x7 on-call 2nd and 3rd line support (problem/incident management)
• Provide a consultancy service to Trading Applications, Trading Architects, ITIP-T, and GITI teams/projects.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and management of a global middleware framework.
• Perform routine operational middleware administration activities.
• Install, configure, and test middleware software patches and new versions in conjunction with Trading Application Development teams.
• Provide business continuity by maintaining the current high level of service and support required by Trading against a background of considerable change in the Trading global business organization.
• Support a 24x7 global trading mission critical applications portfolio.
• Operating consistently over time in the fast paced, high intensity application development environment often found in trading organizations.
• Work schedule may involve participation in shift rotations and/or weekends. Participation in on-call pager rotation may also be required.
• Manage capacity including capacity planning and monitoring usage limits.
• Implement Security management as per Trust Domain baseline, ISIP, and Security Incident Process.
• Manage Disaster Recovery including DR failover testing and ensuring data, processes, documentation are maintained.
• Escalate problems and situation management (SIP) and undertake Root Cause Analysis on situations or major incidents.
• Implement planned and emergency changes.
• Train/mentor other team members on specialized technology areas.
• Be able to provide good technical documentation and other written communication.
• Be able to lead meetings and provide good oral communication.
Experience and Qualifications
• Depth of knowledge in the middleware services portfolio complemented with breadth of infrastructure technologies.
• Previous direct experience in middleware administration and/or activities involving: Wintel and UNIX environments, Java, J2EE, JMS, XML, C, Perl, Oracle Application Server, Tibco, Weblogic, and/or Websphere, Biztalk, BusinessObjects and IIS. Priority of Importance would be: Oracle Application Server, Tibco, Websphere, and IIS.
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, required to solicit support and agreement to plans across diverse delivery groups and customers.
• Strong communication skills are required to collaborate with leaders and staff in various parts of the world to ensure consistency and buy in from the various delivery groups and the prime contractor to achieve business objectives.
• A college degree in a related field of study preferred.
• Specific knowledge of the Trading Infrastructure services and applications portfolio preferred.
• Previous significant work experience in a trading environment preferred.
• Be able to communicate well both in writing and orally.
