Data Migration Specialist

Data migration specialist

-          Preferred location: Dallas, Boston or Vancouver   

Responsibilities

-          Develop and implement migration strategies for transferring source code from various source code repositories (ClearCase, Perforce, CVS, Synergy) to Subversion

-          Create necessary automation tools to migrate source code

-          Develop test and validation plans to ensure that source code is accurately migrated

-          Some traveling might be required

 

Skills and Experience

-          Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Management Information Systems or equivalent experience from relevant fields together with software development experience

-          3-5 years of experience administering Subversion or other SCM or VCS tools

-          Previous experience migrating source code from one or more SCM or VCS tools.  Knowledge of open-source migration tools desired

-          Proficient use of scripting languages: UNIX shell  (Korn or Borne) and Perl scripting

-          Working knowledge of UNIX servers (Sun and Linux operating systems) and server administration

-          Self motivating with the ability to prioritize tasks in the absence of direct guidance

-          Previous experience working in a geographically distributed team desired

-          Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
