Basin Modeling Domain Test Support 

"Data Interpreter"

Role:

Reviewing the features of the subsurface imaging application and explaining to the test team in what sequence of steps need to be taken to achieve specific basin modelling objectives. For example, how do we change the parameter of temperature to understand likely hydrocarbon compositions.

Be able to provide reasonable geophysical rules in order to test and how to guide the team through these rules.  Understanding of ages to layers and whether they are positive or negative with depth.  Understnading map conventions, two dimensional parameters vs three dimensional.  Able to compensate for 2D/3D during testing of maps.

Offer a higher level skill to evaluate the steps the application is currently using to achieve certain objectives.  For example, if we load well data in one step for one objective that well data should be “available” for another logical next step objective.  

Required Experience:

  • Geoscience degree (Geology, Geophysics ) – MS or PhD
  • Worked recently as a Basin Modeler
  • Recent experience using basin modeling tools, for example:
  • Recent experience using imagining tools, for example:
  • Software application development requirement writing experience
  • Software application  testing experience

  • BMT - Basin Modeling Toolbox

  • SEMI, SEMI 3D

Recent Experience using Imaging tools such as:

  • ArcMap
  • Petrel

Job Description:

  • Evaluating a basin modeling tool for ease of use and correctness
  • Recommending improvements to basin modeling tool
  • Interpret data from drill engineers and geophysicists
  • Writing “Use Cases” or “User Stories”
  • Providing subject matter help for writing test cases
  • Providing subject matter help in reviewing test cases

Preferred:

  • Experience using test tools:  QTP, WebUI/WebAii or similar tool
  • Application development experience using Visual Studio on Windows platforms or other development tools and environments.
  • Experience using JIRA (or other issue tracking software)
  • Experience using Subversion (or other source code control software)
